Jacques Cazotte, born October 7, 1719 in Dijon and died guillotined on September 25, 1792 in Paris on the Place du Carrousel, was advisor to the king in his councils, general commissioner of the navy (1760), member of the Academy of Sciences and Belles-Lettres de Dijon (1763), mayor of Pierry (1790), French literati, owner of the Château de la Marquetterie from 1760 to 1789. Jacques Cazotte, born in Dijon at 9, rue du Four (now rue Claude-Cazotte, one of his parents) on October 7, 1719 and baptized in the Saint-Étienne church on October 8, 1719, is the son of Bernard Cazotte, advisor to the king, notary in Dijon and clerk-registrar to the states of Burgundy and Marie Taupin1.
Studies and career

He studied at the Jesuit college of Godrans in Dijon, on the same benches attended a few years earlier by the musician Jean-Philippe Rameau2.

Studies finished
