Here is a beautiful Sigma DM5S from the days when they were made in Japan then quality control was carried out in Nazareth by Martin. The ‘football’ shaped stamp on the back support dates it from between 1979 to 1984 when production moved fully to Korea.

It has a solid spruce top, unusually in sunburst (the s in the name) with mahogany back and sides. The tone from the naturally aged top is beautifully mellow and it has a great sustain.

The frets are in excellent condition, as is the fretboard. It has new D’Addario strings and the intonation is spot on. It has had a bridge doctor fitted which will avoid the belly bulge that so many 50+ year old guitars suffer from.

The build quality is as you would expect excellent, probably better than many Martins from this era.
