Original Vintage Silk Jacket from the 1940's Era. Custom embroidered and personalized on both sides (this is reversible). Commonly referred to as a Sukajan or Souvenir Jacket - Could also be referred to as a "Shore Leave" Jacket. This is because during WWII it was sometimes common for a American Soldier to visit a place like Shanghai, China for a take home keepsake. This one is unique in a few ways to some you may be able to find. Notice it's personalized above the left chest pocket on the black side. It's reversible, and both sides have hand embroidery - You can find this on the chest above pockets, on one side on the sleeve cuffs, and both sides have the golden dragon back-piece. All buttons are present up the front of the black side - Purple side wasn't made to fasten, so if worn on this side it would have to stay open. Both sleeve cuff buttons are missing. Notice on the purple side you will see age and wear at armpits of silk. The purple side in general shows more wear than the black (notice the collar area). For the most part though, it's in very good condition for a mid - 1940's era relic. No tagging or indication of intended size, but this measures small. Be sure to check the provided measurements below (if you intend to wear it), this will insure proper desired fit. Very unique 1 of a kind vintage - We are proud to offer this one!

Pit to Pit (underarm):  17"

Shoulder to Bottom (length):  22"

ALL ITEMS IN MY STORE - ARE IN MY POSSESSION - OHIO (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA)

First, I want to thank you for supporting small business! I take great pride in every stage of passing these treasured items from my hands to yours, and depend your satisfaction to keep Mellow Guppy moving forward. If you are buying vintage -
Please have reasonable expectations. Items that are 20+ years old will most likely show some signs of wear. I do my best to point these out - and - picture or mention any issue. Cotton shrinks over time from things like Washing and Drying - also,
clothing worn outside and in the sun can become faded. During the 1960's - 70's - 80's - Sizes ran smaller, and as a collective, "people" were much smaller. It changed some during the 1990's when fashion and trend went "Oversized".

In short - PLEASE MEASURE!!!! It's the safest and only accurate way to shop CLOTHING online.

Measurements are taken with the item laid on a flat surface.

So please consider this.

If you are buying a shirt, take a like minded shirt that fits comfortably (button up, t-shirt, etc) and lay flat then measure. If your measurements are similar to the ones provided, perfect! I strive to make your buying experience as easy as possible!

Sizes between brands and fabrics always fit a bit differently. Especially when buying VINTAGE clothing! If you have any questions please ask before purchase! I do not accept returns for "doesn't fit". If you are buying a loved one something
vintage as a gift  - Please try to get measurements! See the demonstration picture in sequence...this demonstrates exactly how I get the measurements I provide.
