A large Belgian coticule stone measuring 257 x 60mm
The stone has an interesting surface, with scattered natural fracture lines running across the surface, these cannot be felt with a fingernail not a razor blade in use. The stone is medium hardness and doesn’t readily auto slurry
The stone cuts very fine with just water, with a slight feeling of fine abrasion and a light draw, as you work the stone and some slurry begins to be released the cutting speed increases rapidly. And with anything more than light slurry the stone cuts very quickly. Diluting to plain water and finishing under lightly running water will give the keenest edges
There are patches of reddish coloured speckles across the majority of the surface. Which has been lapped flat down to 400 grit diamond plate level
The Belgian blue side of the stone is very nice, with a bright purple colour and reddish speckles, this is also lapped flat
