An antique Spode "New Stone" English Imari ironstone soup tureen and platter, dating from the 1820s. The tureen has beautiful figural handles with rust and blue scale type decoration. The platter is approximately 12.25 inches by 8.75 inches, the tureen is approximately 12 inches long from handle to handle, and it is approximately 6.75 inches tall. The tureen and the platter are both in excellent condition with just some light wear, mainly to the brown rims, and a few flea bites to the flange of the lid (the part that sits down inside the tureen body). There are some of the typical manufacturing flaws you find in 200-year-old ironstone - tiny specks in the glaze and kiln firing flaws/separations - it was made this way. Please see the photos for details. Thank you for looking!
