Vintage "Goldfinches" Huntley & Palmers Tin 1956

The sweetest vintage Huntley & Palmers tin. This adorable nostalgic pattern was titled "Goldfinches" and was produced in 1956.  A square shaped tin with a charming and whimsical illustration on the lift-off lid of birds perched in a tree of frothy blossom against a sunny yellow background. The border and sides are blue. 

A rare and hard to find vintage collectable tin. This was one of a series of square tins of this size which referenced botanical guidebook-style illustrations of flowers and wildlife. 

This is a true vintage piece of collectable food advertising but also looks fabulous on display. Please see the photos, it has light vintage patina with some scratches to the lid noticed when held to light as seen in photos. Have a good look through. Small spots of paint loss in places, all commensurate with age, but lovely and clean and looked after. The lift off lid is still in shape, one corner of the base of tin has dented on inspection, see the photo, it does not detract from its appearance. It is lovely and bright and is all clean. Inside is clean and very shiny, the inner lid having some black marks associated over time from handling, all clean and I have sterilised gently. 

The bottom is marked "Huntley & Palmers Biscuits, Reading and London England". 

Measures 16cms each side and is 4.5 cms tall. It weighs approx 200 grams.
