The Munising Woodenware Company actually had its origins downstate, in Kalkaska, Michigan. There, in 1877, entrepreneur and inventor William C. Freeman founded the Freeman Woodenware Factory. The company flourished despite experiencing a devastating fire in 1893.

This beautiful was purchased from a Michigan estate and I believe it to be one of the original Munising bowls.  It measures 11 1/2" in diameter across the top and is approximately 3" deep.  There are some stains from normal use.  There is some variance on the upper rim and is not the same across the top.

It weighs 1 lb, 3 oz.
