Repair Information

A vulcanised or 'hot cure' repair is a process where new rubber is moulded into the damaged area and then this is heated to a high temperature before a reinforced patch is fitted to the inside of the tyre to ensure durability. This process is recognised by British Standard and is the only repair method permitted to be applied to the shoulder of a tyre.

Tyre Markings

The meanings of tyre markings which may be included on the item/s in this listing are listed below for your information

Runflat Tyre (RFT)

Self Supporting Runflat (SSR)

Runflat System Component (RSC)

This means that the tyre has reinforced sidewalls to help maintain the structure of the tyre and support the weight of the vehicle in the event of a puncture and loss of tyre pressure, allowing the driver to continue driving at a reduced speed for a limited distance, usually enabling them to get to the nearest garage or home safely. The general consensus is that once a Runflat tyre suffers a puncture, you should hopefully be able to to drive for another 50 miles, however, the exact distance depends on variables such as your driving speed, load of your vehicle and driving conditions.

Mercedes Original Equipment

Extended Mobility (MOE)

This means that Mercedes worked with the tyre manufacturer to develop this tyre and it has been designed to compliment their vehicles. However, please note that this tyre can be fitted to any vehicle and is not exclusively made for Mercedes vehicles. The extended mobility marking relates to the tyre having Runflat capability.

 Audi Original (AO)

This means that Audi worked with the tyre manufacturer to develop this tyre and it has been designed to compliment their vehicles. However, please note that this tyre can be fitted to any vehicle and is not exclusively made for Audi vehicles

 BMW Recommends *Star Marked Tyre*

This means that this tyre has been designed to compliment and enhance the performance characteristics of BMW vehicles, however, please note that this tyre can be fitted to any vehicle and is not exclusively made for BMW vehicles.

 Extra Load (XL)

This is sometimes referred to as Reinforced. Essentially, tyres bearing this stamp are designed for heavy cars rather than ones that carry big loads. Not only are they constructed to cope with weight, but also the higher tyre pressure these vehicles need to run at.

 Date Of Tyre (DOT):

This is visible on the tyre sidewall and consists of three or four numbers. Using the four digit format, the first two digits represent the week of manufacture and the second two digits represent the year of manufacture, for example, if the tyre states a DOT of '1618', this would mean that the tyre was manufactured in the 16th week of the year 2018.

Using the three digit format, the first two digits again represent the week of manufacture and the last number indicates the year of manufacture.  The triangle symbol to the right of the digits indicates that the tyre was manufactured in the 90's and this is used to distinguish these tyres from any other decade of manufacture, for example, if the tyre states a DOT of '346 <', this would mean that the tyre was manufactured in the 34th week of 1996. Any part worn tyres with only a three digit number means the tyre was manufactured before the year 2000 and it is recommended to replace this tyre asap.

Tread Depth Information

The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6 mm

Tread Depth Measuring Method:

We use the most up to date digital equipment to measure the tread depth of the tyre/s at six separate points to give us a range of tread depth readings to provide you with. We do this to show at least two tread depth readings for the middle tread which will be listed under the heading 'Middle Tread', two readings for the outer tread on one side and two readings on the outer tread on the other side and these will be combined and listed under the heading 'Outer Treads'. We may provide even more readings as some tyre/s may not always have a clear middle tread and outer treads depending on the tyre pattern. We then use this information to list the lowest and highest tread depth readings to provide you with a clear and honest description of the tyre/s.

Tread Depth Disclaimer:

Please note it is impossible to measure every part of a tyre/s and the difference between measurements is so minimal it can be affected very easily by simply placing the tread depth gauge at a slightly different angle, applying too much pressure when holding the tread depth gauge in place, not placing the measuring prong in the centre etc. We have over thirty years of experience in this industry and working with tread depth gauges and this method has proven to be the most reliable and honest method.

Information

The below information should cover most queries, but please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help

Information:

This listing is for the sale of the tyre/s only, the rim/s are not included.

Please note that when you take part worn tyre/s to be fitted at a garage, it has been noted that they may try to pressure you to purchase a new tyre from them instead.

They may give the impression that they are advising you against fitting a part worn tyre by pointing out minor scuff/scrapes for your benefit, but please be assured whilst our part worn tyres may have some minor cosmetic damage, they are absolutely fit for purpose and have been thoroughly tested and repaired where required to British Standard by fully qualified tyre technicians and this tactic is only used by some garages to sell a new tyre for their own profit.

Of course, most garages are happy to fit a part worn tyre with or without a repair to British Standard as they understand that these tyres are perfectly fit for purpose and are a much more cost effective alternative to buying a new tyre.

The above is just for your information to advise you so you do not fall foul of being pressured into making an unnecessary purchase of a new tyre.

Condition:

Please be aware that the tyre/s in this listing are part worn/used and therefore may have minor cosmetic damage, but be assured all of our tyres are pressure safety tested and extensively checked for any damage prior to listing to ensure that they are fit for purpose.

Should any repairs be required these will be carried out and will be stated under the 'Repair Details' section above for your information and will not affect the performance or safety of the tyre/s.
