a Scottish writer of distinction, a dramatist, theatre critic, lecturer,and broadcaster. He also wrote and produced many plays for radio and stage. The manuscript script was typed in 1946 by Halbert Tatlock and carries his copyright stamp.

The typed script starts with a 7-page preface for the play "Weir of Hermiston" Robert Louis Stevenson's famous unfinished novel. This is followed by a page on 'The Braid Scots Dialect', then 6 pages of 'Notes on the charactets . .this is followed by a glosary of Braid Scots words in 'Weir of Hermiston', and finally there are 91 pages of the play script itself.
