ANTIQUE PENNSYLVANIA GERMAN PRIMITIVE 11 DRAWER PINE SPICE/APOTHECARY CABINET WITH ORIGINAL CERAMIC LABELS

This early antique primitive apothecary/spice cabinet is a beautiful piece of early Pennsylvania Dutch (German) history. It is made of pine and is lightly stained. It features four ball feet to sit on a countertop. It could easily have hangers mounted on the back to hang as well. This one, originally just happened to be a tabletop/countertop piece. It has eleven drawers for storage. Nine are square drawers with the bottom two being slightly larger. These spice cabinets are small in size but just amazing pieces with so much history in each one. This is an original piece from the mid to late 1800s. The drawers are dovetailed and the knobs have a wooden dowel that goes through the front of the drawer making the knob secure. The labels are a ceramic/stoneware material with the name of the spice written on them. The writing is fading. I could decipher most of them. Starting at the top from left to right...

1) Ingwer = Ginger

2) Gemiirz = Seasoning/Spice

3) Pfeffer = Pepper

4) Kümmel = Caraway Seeds

5) unsure

6) Muskat = Nutmeg

7) Pfeffergelt = Pepper Gel

8) Nelken = Cloves

9) Vanille = Vanilla

10) Vorbrerblätter =    (something) leaves

11) sitronschaler = lemon peel

This was the best I could do as far as translation. It may or may not be correct so please feel free to do your research as well. This cabinet measures 12¾" tall x 10" across x 3½" deep. These cabinets are highly collectable and this one is in fabulous condition. The top has some pinholes but these could be patched with wood putty and sanded if you so choose. All drawers open easily. This piece is perfect for collectors of antiques and primitives. It would also make a great addition to a collection or simply as decor.

Please see the pictures as they are part of the description.
