An original French rise & fall ceiling light with fittings, probably dating from the 1920s/30s.  We have updated the light to include new ivory coloured braided twist flex. The little ceramic pulleys allow the shade to be raised and lowered easily. The shade is a vintage opaline glass coolie, to which we have added a new antiqued brass gallery and bulbholder.  Fully extended, the light descends down to approx 1.60m, but you can alter this if you decide to extend or cut the flex. Retracted, the minimum length is approx 70cm. The shade measures approx 25cm diameter.  The counterweight is filled with its original lead shot.  Being around 80-90 years old, all the parts are in remarkably good condition.  There are a few chips on the rim of the shade where the gallery sits, which is nearly always the case with these and can't be seen when it's fitted.  The line drawing is from a 1920s French electrical wholesaler's catalogue, and gives the contemporary price then of 23 Francs.  It's also a great reference for re-wiring it!
