In 1978, while the Toden route was shrinking, it was reborn as the Toden 7000 "renewal car" No. 7002, with a new body for a one-man operation.
In addition to the standard paintwork, car No. 7002 was put into operation as a chartered car for the Toden rakugo show, but on June 11, 2017, the Thank You Series 7000 event was held and it retired from active service.
