VA-172 "Very Choice" PCGS AU58 PPQ $2 May 1, 1780 Virginia Colonial Currency

  • Very Choice PPQ, Always Popular, and Scarce May 1, 1780 "TWO DOLLARS" Virginia Colonial Currency Note.
  • Very conservatively graded & certified by PCGS as AU58 PPQ (Premium Paper Quality), with superb eye-appeal. Darkly inked with three large borders (extra wide on the right). The back displays wonderful 2-color (red & black) printing and states that this Virginia Colonial issued note is financially backed & payment is guaranteed by the new United States Congress. The emblem on the back is the same as the $35 Jan. 14, 1779 Continental Currency notes have. Just a great colonial note with superb eye-appeal!
  • No problems of any kind, and there are no pin holes. The ragpaper itself is watermarked "CONFEDE RATION" on two lines when held upto a light source (see last two photos).
  • Bold 4-digit serial number 3995 in brown ink along with the signatures of A. Craig and Bolling Stark. In addition, a handwritten issue date of Oct. 9, 1781 is included above the interest calculation. This unique issue date (which is not always found on these notes) was either written by Craig or Stark at the same time they signed their name. The back is countersigned by Charles Fleming.
  • Authentic & historical item printed in 1780 and issued in during the Revolutionary War (1775-83), about 4 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4,th, 1776.
  • Free insured USPS Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation (trackable) to anywhere in the United States.
