- x1 Olio Tea Pot- 15.3x23x14.3cm 1.1 litre capacity, £70.00 RRP

“Invite your friend to enjoy a fresh pot of tea from the Olio Black Teapot designed by Barber Osgerby. Whether you choose English breakfast tea, green tea, or something a little more exotic – this ceramic teapot crafted from durable stoneware is a considered range with an honest, authentic and functional design sensibility. Coming in a graphic black matte glaze with a contrasting glossy glaze inside.”

A great teapot on very short supply- as are decent examples of all black teapots that are pushing you into the £200+ region- so Royal Doulton have come up trumps with this self-professing, but I’d say justified, claim of it having a “functional design sensibility. It’s obviously been well designed & “considered” & resulted in a stylish non-generic and desirable teapot.

- x1 sugar pot with lid & spoon and x1 milk jug/creamer, black ceramic, H&M Home, £30.00

It’s very difficult finding and sourcing Matt black items for tea services that aren’t extortionate, sub-par, or you can’t find them at all. I stumbled upon these pieces by H&M with their brilliant quality and they are substantial items able to hold plenty of milk or sugar.

There’s a hole in the lid and groove in the lip to house the ceramic black spoon making it highly ergonomic and well designed. A very simple & effective element but having been searching for these kind of items i can testify to the lack of detailing on the majority of such staple pieces. Detailings you think would be central to such designs to elevate them and the end users experience, but which are so often missing.

You could easily marry up this black set with black mugs (short supply of Olio if any) or why not set up contrasting bright coloured cups- i think the black pieces could handle it without receding into the background, quite the opposite as it could help highlight the qualities of different glazed and unglazed finishes. Take HK Living as a great example of offering an array of reactive glazed pieces that would work to do just that with the Matt and satin black.

I have displayed them on ethnicraft’s gold leaf rectangular which is a great way to elevate these pieces further if on display or when actively being used. I’ve included images of HK Living, and other bundles where black pieces could blend seamlessly with the gold, silver, reactive glaze, translucent glass and white finishes by the likes of Ichendorf Milano, Alessi Dressed range, George Jensen, Les Ottomans, to name a few. I just so happen to have such items listed separately so please browse at your leisure 😜

I’m more than happy to hell create a listing and entirely bundle of your own with the black pieces forming the basis. There’s also the array of suitable trays to consider when presenting them. I have shown the 3 pieces on ethnicraft’s gold lead long rectangular tray (also listed separately) which adds an element of glamour, refinement, colour and a different material and textual contrast. The possibilities really are endless!

But in this listing I have x1 Olio teapot, x1 sugar pot with lid and spoon and x1 milk jug from H&M Home grouped for £98.00.
