Antique Silhouette Cutout Set

DESCRIPTION & CONDITION

You are bidding on a pair of antique HANDCUT SILHOUETTE CUTOUTS with a matching couple dressed in what appears to be Victorian period wear.  Silhouettes are placed on "tan" aged discolored white paper and on 1/4" laminated wood veneered board. They are protected behind a shallow oval convex glass surrounded by an oval gilt brass bezel. Based on the style of the ladies bonnet, this set is estimated to have been created between 1830-1850, you be the judge. These are not marked and the lables that might have been a price tag or makers lable which would have helped shed some light on the maker, have been pulled off the frames cloth backing.  To the left side of lables, there is hand written numbers/letters done in a gold colored pencil/pen that is unclear and hard to make out.  I have seen similar items that were labled or noted as being made in England.  

As you can see, these 2 items are in overall excellent condition, considering their estimated age.  Assumed time period is based on others like it found on reputable Antiques web sites.  Besides typical age related patina throughout and a break on one of the grape bunch brass hanging loop, these two items are ready to be displayed.  

Also, the tiny spots visible on the man's head area are tiny paper dust spots on the inside of the glass. This will not bother the average person but some might consider this to be a minor flaw they can't live with. All else are light reflections. The broken hanging loop does not affect it's hanging ability and can be repaired.

In their present condition, these will make a great addition to any antique silhouette collection.
