It opens automatically from the spring mechanism, at the push of a button. It folds by hand and locks in the closed position at the push of a button. There is a metal mechanism and a red plastic case. Not new, has signs of use, but in good working order. Made in the USSR in the mid-1980s. A wonderful item for a collection.
