Mongolian dzi bead is a dzi bead polished from nine-eye stone shale. Nine-eye stone shale is a symbiosis of chalcedony, agate, jasper and crystal, commonly known as coin stone and eye stone.

The hardness is high, reaching 6.5h-8.5h (Mohs hardness) or above, and the shape is mostly ellipsoid, spherical, hemispherical or irregular in symbiosis with agate. The sky eye pattern is formed naturally, mainly eyeballs, supplemented by triangles, polygons, etc. The colors are mainly black and yellow, and red is rare.

There is an explanation for the dzi bead, also called "sky eye bead", which has the composition of nine shale which contains jade and agate elements.
