A uniquely embossed early Ball Brothers machined smooth lip Mason beaded neck seal quart fruit jar.
Made by Ball Brothers Glass Circa 1910 - 1914 after purchasing the Greenfield Fruit Jar & Bottle
Company , Greenfield,Indiana in November 1909. One of the first in the Ball Perfect Mason series jar.
Produced on the Owens automatic bottle machine which was also acquired in the purchase of Greenfield.
The early Owens machining is identified by its typical very rough spun circular valve scar.
     Strongly embossed - BALL [ Arched - Long L ] PERFECT [ in small letters ] MASON  Mold # 4 on base.
Also note the italic lettering of the arched BALL. An altered BOYDS PERFECT MASON jar mold was
used in this jars making. The extra long last L  of BALL was caused by changing BOYDS [ 5 letters ] to
BALL [ 4 letters ]. Only light ghosting of the BOYDS lettering is visible. Was well erased from the mold.
Molded in a deeper bright Ball Blue colored glass. The glass is totally filled with tiny pinpoint seeds.
The surface shows a noticeable light horizontal brushed type mold texture. The glass is bright clean and
clear with no stain from preserving. Perfect clarity. A very lightly used and well kept jar in its era of use.
No damage of any kind to note. No cracks, chips, bruising or abrasions. Typical small fine surface wear.
Its smooth lip and beaded neck sealing area of the mouth is about perfect. A few tiny nicks along the
underside edge of the lip on the outside only. Extremely minor but mentioned for complete accuracy.
The rest is all perfectly fine. A nice lightly aged clean and damage free Ball zinc lid completes the jar.
<> GENUINE ZINC CAP <> FOR BALL MASON JARS porcelain lined. Full solid zinc cover with
no holes, cracks, splits or dents. Very clean of interior debris and threads easily. Nice displaying cover.
An overall very nice example of this uncommon early Ball Perfect Mason fruit jar.
