Philip Christian Liverpool porcelain tea bowl and saucer. ‘Plantation’ pattern c 1770-8 (1)

Philip Christian 1766-1778 steatic porcelain from Cornish soaprock. This pattern ‘Plantation’ features a large flowering peony growing by stylised rocks and bamboo next to a trellis fence.

 

Philip Christian took over the Shaw’s Brow factory after the death of Richard Chaffers in 1765. When trading ceased in 1778 Seth Pennington took over the site.

Condition: Chip to tea bowl rim. Chip to saucer rim. No hairline cracks and both pieces have good rings when tapped. Please examine photographs. A783/1
