A pair of antique Chinese sleeve bands from a robe, the design is created by very fine couching of gold metal threads on blue silk, the two sleeve bands appear to be complete, and married together so that the designs nearly match, there is some degradation to the blue silk along the edges, but not in the body of the piece where the decoration occurs, there are small amounts of the couching that are loose, this is par for the course for used antique textiles, some of the metal threads are dull, but there are highlights in the gold threads that have not tarnished, and glow in sunlight, some soiling, the work is finer than what we normally see in late 19th and early 20th century work, and the piece is likely 3rd qtr 19thC, Xianfeng or Tangzhi periods of the Qing Dynasty, the approximate size including the borders is 11 in x 22.5 in, #11521
