He also appears in records of living officers of the United States Army by William H Powell 1890. There is short bio of him. Graduated the military academy class of 1856 assigned to 4th artillery, promoted first lieutenant September 1859 transferred to 5th artillery May 1861 promoted captain and assistant Quartermaster August 61, Captain fifth artillery July 1862 retired November 1874. Private rank of major and lieutenant colonel March 1865. He was at West Point When The War Began served in the field with the army of the Potomac in 1861 was quartermaster at Hilton Head South Carolina in 1863 and from June 1863 to 1871 he was at West Point as an assistant professor of mathematics. He was in the first battle of Bull Run on the staff of Colonel Keyes. Recommended for full Prof. but his health " gave way, which soon caused his retirement from the service. "
