A rare signed copy (to a loose publisher bookplate) of the highly collectable latest novel from award-winning American author and short-story writer Joshua Cohen (his earlier novels include 'Witz ', 'Book of Numbers ' and 'Moving Kings ').  On 9 May 2022 this novel was named the winner of The Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

'The Netanyahus :
An Account of a Minor and Ultimately Even Negligible Episode in the History of a Very Famous Family ', published originally by Fitzcarraldo Editions in London on 5 May 2021 (nearly 7 weeks ahead of the US edition which was published by New York Review Books on 22 June 2021), 2nd edition, medium modern paperback, 244 pages + copyright page at rear.

This copy comes with a rare signed loose bookplate from the author's UK publisher, Fitzcarraldo.

Internally in As New unread condition, externally in fine condition in French flaps, minor edge and corner wear/rubbing with the white visible under the blue, as so often seen with Fitzcarraldo titles.

There is no hardback edition of this novel; both the UK edition, and the US version published by New York Review Books, are only available in paperback.

** I have only ever seen 1 actual signed copy of this title, a US 1st edition which a US dealer had for sale that sold quickly, a leftover from the author's small book tour when it was originally released.  I am not aware of any signed copies of the UK Fitzcarraldo edition being available at all - it is thus rare to have the author's signature via this loose bookplate **

WINNER OF THE 2022 PULITZER PRIZE FOR FICTION

Corbin College, not quite upstate New York, winter 1959-1960: Ruben Blum, a Jewish historian--but not an historian of the Jews--is co-opted onto a hiring committee to review the application of an exiled Israeli scholar specializing in the Spanish Inquisition.  When Benzion Netanyahu shows up for an interview, family unexpectedly in tow, Blum plays the reluctant host to guests who proceed to lay waste to his American complacencies.

Mixing fiction with nonfiction, the campus novel with the lecture, The Netanyahus is a wildly inventive, genre-bending comedy of blending, identity, and politics that finds Joshua Cohen at the height of his powers.

'A mordant, linguistically deft historical novel about the ambiguities of the Jewish-American experience, presenting ideas and disputes as volatile as its tightly-wound plot ' - The Pulitzer Prize Citation, Winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
