I occasionally use the South Korean Kakao app to communicate with friends both in South Korea and the U.S. Within the app, I particularly enjoy the Kakao friends emoji characters, especially Ryan, who reminds me of one of my favorite childhood stuffed animals. While I've referenced the Kakao friends characters and app in previous artworks, this vase, based on a Korean moon jar/vase form, was specifically created as a direct homage to the Kakao friends.
