Product description About the author ▼ Profile: Satoshi Kon Born in 1963 in Hokkaido.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design. As a manga artist, he published the books Kaikisen (1990) and World Apartment Horror (1991, both published by Kodansha).
After moving from manga to the animation industry, he made his directorial debut in 1998 with the feature film "Perfect Blue".
Since then, director's original films "Millennium Actress" (2002), "Tokyo Godfathers" (2003), TV series "Delusional Agent" (2004), and in 2006 the movie "Paprika" based on Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel was released. In 2007, the short animation "Ohayou" was broadcast on NHK Ani*Kuri 15.
As a job other than directing, published a book "KON'S TONE 'Millennium Actress' e no Michi" (2002, published by Shobunsha / 2013, published by Fukkan.com), a collection of texts written for websites, and NHK. He is a curator of the program "Dejisuta" and a lecturer at the vocational school "Art College Kobe". Since April 2008, he has been a visiting professor at Musashino Art University's Imaging Department.
He passed away suddenly on August 24, 2010 due to pancreatic cancer. 46 years old.
From August 12th to 24th, 2011, Satoshi Kon's retrospective exhibition "Millennium Souvenirs" was held at Shinjuku Ophthalmology Gallery.
From July 16, 2012 to August 25, 2012, a retrospective exhibition "Dreamer Satoshi Kon" was held at the Musashino Art University Museum Library.
August 26, 2012 Satoshi Kon's second essay collection "KON'S TONE II" was released by KON'STONE Co., Ltd.
