Victorian early plastic faux Tortoiseshell design heart shaped base with a hinged sterling silver clip hallmarked sterling  London W.R.C. for William Richard Corke specific mark registered in November 1892.

The simple design was probably a gentleman's desk accessory for letters/receipts etc.

12 cm long 10 cm wide 1 cm deep 3 cm deep with clip. Silver clip 4.5 cm long 2 cm wide heart shaped base with hallmarks rectangular hinged clip. Clip fixed through base with 2 silver star shaped studs. Hallmarked with lion and lion head and W.R.C. in a rectangle.

Small 0.5 cm long nibble on edge near heart point (last image) and 2 tiny dints to underside edges on each side at widest part. Base is glossy with some light surface scratches under a loupe. Hinge works well with some residual silver tarnish as did not want to over polish it.

Very good condition for age and collectable early molded plastic to protect the use of endangered species whilst replicating the beauty of the real thing. Shiny condition hence reflections in photos.

Despatch may be earlier than stated maximum based on covid/transport cost trip combos.

Lovely gift for a collector.
