This jug is in what is known as the "Gaudy Welsh" style, after the ware which was traditionally produced in Wales, but it was probably made in the Stoke on Trent area, the heart of England's pottery making industry in the 19th century.  The jug is made in a pale earthenware clay, painted in underglaze blue and fired with a transparent glaze.  The redand copper  lustre were then added before a second firing.

The rouletted moulding on the jug is a particularly nice feature.

Not marked, as usual.
