USA Hockey Hall of Famer Ken Morrow was the first player to win a Gold Medal and the Stanley Cup in the same year.

After winning the Gold in February 1980 at Lake Placid the towering defenseman joined the New York Islanders to help them win the Stanley Cups in May 1980. Morrow and the Islanders would go on to win 4 consecutive Cups.
