This auction is for two items:

1. - A Derby Scheme khaki armband (9.25 x 44.5 cm), wool with cotton lining, with red cloth embroidered King's Crown and issue stamp on reverse. Issue number A95621. Excellent condition save for some discolouration around the inside area on the top buttonhole. The inner cotton lining still has the original sheen or lustre, suggesting that this was not worn for long.

2. - A printed Army Form W.3208, dated 11/15, 'Instructions regarding the wearing of the Khaki Armlet.' This has creases, fold lines and surface marks.

These come from a group of items that were owned by the Robertson family, of 150 Graeme Street, Glasgow - a street that appears to no longer exist.

There were three brothers that served in the First World War: Thomas, James and John. Their father, James, had also served in the army and he died in 1909. The arm band would have been owned by one of the three brothers.

JOHN ROBERTSON emigrated to Canada and joined the war in the 5th Canadians. He was killed in action. (I am selling items of his on ebay at this time. His service number was 440038).

JAMES ROBERTSON received an honourable discharge owing to war wounds. (I am selling his discharge certificate on ebay at this time. His service number was 291254. Scottish Rifles.)

THOMAS ROBERTSON had the service number 168892. (I gained his service number and other information from some postcards from and to him, he appears to have been in more than one regiment: 115 Sec HAMT ASC Attached, 203 Battery RGA and R8G M.J. Z Coy?)
