The same day that women got the
vote in 1920, a small northside Chicago company was starting out in business.
United Conveyor Corporation saw a need to help newly constructed coal-fired
electric generating plants remove and dispose of their coal ash. From that
simple beginning, UCC Environmental (as the company came to be called in the 21st
century) provided design, supply, construction, and maintenance of world class
systems for utility and heavy industry providers.
This solid brass plaque probably dates
from the 1940s or 1950s, before zip codes and when states used three-letter
abbreviations (ILL.). Could be older. It is in almost new condition, with few scratches or
marks and a nice patina. Screw holes look unused as it was probably glued to
whatever. Measures 8.5 x 4.75 x 0.25 inches (21.5 x 12 x 0.5 cm). A nifty decoration for any office, warehouse, factory, shop, restaurant, or
other wall. A great gag gift for anyone who “conveys”. A surefire paperweight.
