Belinda Carlisle (b. Aug 17,1958) is an American singer, musician & author. She gained worldwide fame as the lead singer of The Go-Go's (1 of the most successful all-female bands in history) & went on to have a prolific career as a solo artist. She began her music career in '77 as the drummer of the punk band Germs, & then joined The Go-Go's as lead singer after its formation in '78. With their chart-topping debut Beauty & the Beat ('81), they helped popularize new wave music in the USA & were the 1st all-female band who wrote their own songs & played their own instruments to achieve a #1 album. The Go-Go's have sold over 7 million records. After disbanding in '85, Carlisle had a successful solo career with hits such as Mad About You, I Get Weak, Circle in the Sand, Leave a Light On, & Heaven Is a Place on Earth. Her autobiography Lips Unsealed (2010) was a New York Times Best Seller. In 2011 she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
