• 2022 IIHF Men's World Jr. Ice Hockey Championship in Edmonton, AB, Canada - FIRST  DAY COVER -RELEASED JAN 19. 2022 - Games started being played in Edmonton and Red Deer AB but were cancelled after a couple of days on Dec. 29 2021 due to a Corona outbreak with the players. Canada won the first two games - see FDC for details.The championship was rescheduled to later in 2022 - and Canada won gold. This stamp follows three stamps issued in 2020 commemorating three Hockey Championships in Slovakia, Czechia and Halifax, Canada. During 2021 we commemorated Hockey Cups in Edmonton AB, Frisco TX, Riga Latvia, and Womens Hockey in Calgary AB.

Our previous stamps honouring the World Cups were printed by Canada Post under their PICTURE POSTAGE program. Effective September 1, 2022 Canada Post cancelled the program - there won't be any more NEW or Re-PRINTS possible. Following our annual tradition the Austrian Post Office , using their "Meine Marke" (My stamp) program started using our designs and printed the World Cup commemoratives.
