You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique print from an 1870s French illustrated journal.
It depicts two poodles begging / asking to crawl into bed with their owner. He holds his finger up to keep them at bay.
The French caption reads: Que couche avec les chiens se lève avec les puces which roughly translates to: He who lays with dogs rises with fleas.
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 11.5 inches (26.5 x 29 cm). The picture measures 7 x 9.5 inches, with a French caption below. It is surrounded by unrelated French text that could be trimmed for framing.
The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
