You are bidding on a very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.

It depicts a pack of marsupial thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger, Tasmanian Wolf) hunting kangaroo and emu. This was back when this wolf-like marsupial still roamed, prior to its early 20th century extintion.

Also included with the print is a second page from the same journal with an 43-inch article. It is in French, but free computer translation programs make it easy to translate.

The caption reads:  Une Battue en Australie
which roughly translates to:  A battle in Australia

It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture area is about 8.5 x 5.5 inches (21.5 x 14 cm), with a French caption below and text above it. The text could easily be trimmed before framing, or hidden under a window mat.

The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.

This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
