You are bidding on an original antique page from an illustrated newspaper from 1870s. The lines are clean and bold, and it would look wonderful framed.

The engraving shows a view of work horses being pulled up from the pits in Cyfarthfa, Wales. I believe these were the quarry limestone pits that helped run the Cyfarthfa Ironworks. The caption identifies it as the Castle Pit.  Rough life for the horses. It appears to be some sort of wooden pulley elevator.

The page measures approximately 10 x 15.75 inches. The image itself is about 8.3 x 9.75 inches. here is text on the back side of the page, but it does not show through the paper.

This print will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
