Unique post-1880 private photograph. 36 members of F. Company, 1st Corps, late 4th Corps, of the 1st Cumberland Rifle Volunteer Corps (RVC). F Coy. were headquartered in Brampton. They were known as the Belted Wills in reference to Lord William Howard (1563-1640), who lived at Naworth Castle, near Brampton.

The Public House, Hotel, is the Thomas Bell Family & Commercial Hotel. 'Howard Arms' is written beneath the photograph since that hotel presumably became the Howard Arms (which still exists).
