Attention:

• Check steering intermediate shaft and coupling for proper movement.

• Most steering gears are equipped with a roller bearing supporting the pitman shaft.Side-to-side movement of the steering gear pitman shaft is normal.

• Most steering gears will have free play at the input shaft until pressure is applied from pump.

• Inspect hoses for kinks, chaffing and internal restrictions.

• Install an in-line filter to eliminate potential restrictions.

• Flush system with approved fluid to remove any debris or contamination.

• Use the correct fluid type that meets O.E. specifications for your vehicle.

• Always replace sealing O-Rings.

• Tighten couplings, gear mounting bolts and pitman arm to manufacturer’s specs.

• Perform vehicle wheel alignment.

 


Note:

If your car has these symptoms, it means you need to replace your Power Steering Gear Box.

• No power steering assist in one direction or both.

• Leaks from seals or housing.

• Clunk or popping noise.

• Excessive play in steering wheel at center before wheels start turning.
