The Creators
As the lynchpin writer of Ultimate Marvel, three-time Eisner award-winner Brian Michael Bendis
has been the driving force behind the unbelievable success of the
revolutionary comic book line. Thanks to Bendis' expert characterisation
of teenage Peter Parker and deft re-envisioning of classic Spidey foes,
Ultimate Spider-Man has become one of comics' best-sellers for more
than 50 issues. Bendis is also the regular writer on Daredevil,
as well as ultimate fantastic Four with fellow scribe Mark Millar. in
2004, Bendis will reveal a hidden side of the Marvel Universe in Secret War, with emerging artist Gabrielle Dell'Otto. In addition to his work for Marvel Comics, Bendis also writes Powers,
presenting a markedly post-modern slant on the superhero genre. A
longtime resident of Cleveland, Bendis has relocated to the Pacific
Northwest with his wife Alisa, his daughter Olivia; and their two dogs,
Buster and Schroeder.
Artist Mark Bagley has completed more than 50 consecutive issues of Ultimate Spider-Man,
a truly remarkable accomplishment in an age where comic book artists
change titles as often as they change socks. Surprisingly modest about
his immense talent, Bagley explains his remarkable dedication to the
book as simply a labour of love to work on his favourite comic book
character of all time. Bagley is frequently named to Wizard magazine's
monthly list of Top Ten Artists and is a favourite of fans worldwide. In
addition to Ultimate Spider-Man, Bagley is working with writer Brian Michael Bendis on the new Marvel series The Pulse
Trevor Hairsine is one Marvel's 'Young Guns', six up-and-coming artists to watch in 2005. Hairsine co-created the "Harmony Krieg" series for Judge Dredd Megazine. Past credits also include such titles as Holocaust 12, Space Girls, Cla$$ War and Marvel Knights' Captain America. Hairsine is currently working on bringing Warren Ellis' Ultimate Nightmare, the first part in the planned trilogy, to life.
Joe Quesada was already a hugely popular comic book artist from his work on X-Factor, Batman: Sword of Azrael and Ash
when he was invited to launch the Marvel Knights imprint with partner
Jimmy Palmiotti. Matching top comic book talent to a set of
underperforming Marvel characters, Marvel Knights quickly established
itself as the home for the industry's most innovative comic book series -
such as Daredevil, Inhumans and Fantastic Four: 1234.
Sparked by the runaway success of Marvel Knights, Quesada was named
editor in chief of the entire Marvel Comics line in September 2000. In
just over two years, Quesada has revitalised Marvel from top to bottom,
helping initiate the revolutionary Ultimate Marvel line and establishing
a new trade paperback program aimed at bringing comic book collections
into mainstream bookstores. In 2001, Quesada spearheaded Heroes, a
nearly overnight response to the September 11th tragedy, which raised
more than $1 million to benefit the families of those killed in the
World Trade Center attacks. In addition to his duties as EIC, Quesada
still finds time for his own creative contributions, most recently
writing and illustrating the best-selling Daredevil: Father series
