The first edition of this work of fiction of a military family (48th Regiment of Foot) through the Napoleonic Wars and post-wars period service in home and colonial postings by Reverend Richard Cobbold (1797-1877) appears to have been published in three volumes in 1847 and released again in 1853, with new and improved editions circa 1855, but unable to determine the date of this Ward, Lock, and Tyler published edition of Mary Anne Wellington, but presumably post-1855.

Rev. Richard Cobbold, Mary Anne Wellington, The Solder’s Daughter, Wife, and Widow (London: Ward, Lock, and Tyler, [18??]).

A previous owner of this book created a separate insert Contents page with page numbers for the 36 chapters found in this version of this book.

Chapter 29 covers military service and life in the early Colony of New South Wales, Australia.

This 332-page hardcover book is in good solid condition overall for its age.
