VICTORIA RINK NOTES
:
The Victoria Skating Rink opened on December 24, 1862.
The rink later became the first electrified public building in Canada.
On March 3, 1875, the rink hosted the first organized hockey game.
In March 1893, the rink hosted the first Stanley Cup (Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup).
The Montreal Hockey Club (AHAC) defeated the Montreal Victorias (3-2).
Many of the hockey players in this era were from Montreal's McGill University.
In 2002, the IHF designated the Victoria Skating Rink as the Birthplace of Organized Hockey.
