This is our 34th Garrison No. 147, which we are offering in our store and is one of our best! This bag retails for $2675 today, which is worth every penny! This bag is a classic Ghurka briefcase made of rare chestnut leather. The Garrison offers two generous exterior flap pockets with signature brass points and leather tab closure. The large front compartment opens easily with a U-shaped zip. A solid brass zipper on the rear opens completely, revealing a dual accordion compartment ideal for legal-sized documents or laptops. Interior utility pockets accommodate pens and phones. The bag comes with the original detachable and adjustable leather shoulder strap. There are no missing stitches or smells. The corners are perfect; the solid brass hardware is fantastic and shining. The suede lining is excellent. We rated this bag 8.9 out of a perfect 10! Founded in Connecticut in 1975 by luxury belt and brace designer Marley Hodgson, Ghurka has served as a symbol of superior American leather craftsmanship for over thirty years.
The origins of the Ghurka brand can be traced back to a fortuitous discovery at a British auction house in the early 1970s. Inspired by his love of history and leather craft, Hodgson bid on campaign travel gear and leather boots formerly owned by a British Ghurka officer stationed in India at the turn of the 20th century. He was so impressed by the quality of the nearly century-old leather – durable yet supple despite its age – and by the intricate craftsmanship that he was compelled to launch a line of comparable leather accessories. Hodgson tracked down the lost tanning formula for these boots and other accouterments carried by the legendary Ghurka regiments and applied the manufacturing process to his new collection ".
