Manufacturer was Ackermann & Fritze from the town of Rudolstadt-Volkstedt in Thuringia, Germany. The mark was used from 1929 till the late 1940's. The company shut down during WWII roughly 1939 till 1945. Beginning in 1951, until 1959 it did business as VRB Kunst und. In 1959 the company was expropriated by the East German authorities and shut down.

In addition to the courting couple , there is a depiction of a sheep, a basket of flowers and a finely detailed musical instrument, most probably a lute. This is one of the larger figurines made by this company and quite rare, especially in this condition. Most of the output were single subjects while courting couples were popular but having other elements such as animals, musical instruments and flowers included in the scenario was more rare.

The company was established in 1908 and made only the finest hand decorated luxury porcelain. Often , the older pieces are incorrectly identified as Royal Vienna because of the beehive mark they used from 1908- 1928.
