Here's a Very Nice Antique and Rare camera from the late 1880's to early 1890's.  Made by Scovill Manufacturing Company--- before they became Anthony & Scovill (Ansco), it is made during the Glass Plate era---- for 5 X 8 inch images.  It comes with one Matched double glass plate Holder--- that actually has two glass plates inside.  There is no Viewing Ground Glass at the back end--- this looks like a variation that might take a ground glass panel that fits like the plate holder, because there are no screw holes from hinges like others have.  But it's lucky to have the plate holder--- tough to find item!   It also has a brass Waterbury Lens--- with a front rotating Aperture dial.   Imagine creating photos with this baby back in the day?

Functionally--- the Lens is in Excellent condition--- really nice exterior/cosmetic condition and Beautiful Glass--- just a few specs of dust here and there.  The aperture wheel turns easily and it seems good to go.  The wood body has very minor wear, just a couple spots of light scuffing, a few nicks and light scratches. The brass fittings are also in nice shape with nice patina.  The bellows is in Excellent condition--- looks to be complete with no holes or tears---- rigid but still supple, but it has not been extensively tested for pinholes!

The plate holder is in very nice condition---  the darkslides move easily--- it is engraved Scovill & Adams Co..  As I said above, there is no ground glass--- my guess is that there is a separate piece that fits in place of the plate holder, but I don't have it.

It has not been tested for shooting, so no guarantees on it's usability, but it's in Very Nice collectible condition.   Really, pretty Nice for about 135 Years Old!

PLEASE READ THIS--- By Bidding you Agree that:  I am not Amazon or a professional Camera Store seller--- just a pragmatic collector/shooter selling some Used items.  I'm not here trying to rip anybody off or sneak one past you, but that said... I'm not into having things go back and forth based on opinion, or risk "part swapping."   So I'm sorry, I can't sell item on Approval, it's being sold As Is, No Warranty, No Buyer's Remorse, No Returns, being sold As Is with noted and the possibly of unknown flaws.   I've been a photographer for 30+ years and I know how cameras work and what to look for.  But I can't "Bench Test" every thing to factory specs and unless it's Brand New... I can't guarantee that every single aspect may be Perfect... especially in a 120 year old item!  Any significant defects that I know of are either pictured or described to the best of my knowledge.  I try to be detailed and truthful but I can't describe every every inch of it, so there may be a nick or blemish or a few specs of dust that I failed to mention... but they would hardly diminish it... unless you expect everything to be 100% Perfection.  What you see is what you'll get and I package my items well, so it arrives in the same condition as shown.
