Antique German Beer Stein Threaded Relief King Gambrinus by Adolph Diesinger c.1890s

Description: This beautiful stein was made in Germany by Adolph Diesinger around 1890-1900. A.Diesinger is one of the most collectible beer stein manufacturers. His designs are unique and hard to confuse with anything else - they represent some sort of the "naive art" in the beer stein decoration.

The central scene of the stein is made in "threaded relief" technique - the contours of the drawing made by raised outline, thus creating a very attractive decoration. It was probably the Adolph Diesinger most popular technique for decorating beer steins. However, some other manufacturers used this technique as well - this includes Mettlach, Marzi and Remy, etc. This stein is from "pre-DRGM" period, manufactured before 1901 when Diesinger took DRGM patent protection on his production.

The stein portraits King Gambrinus - the legendary king believed to be the inventor of beer and champion of cheerful good-humored life. The King is sitting on his throne, admiring the color of beer in his glass. Beautiful example of threaded relief technique.

The stein is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.

It is 6.75" tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.25L capacity.
