The five-storied pagoda of Mt. Haguro stands in a cedar grove in Mt. Haguro, near Haguro-cho, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Said to be the oldest five-storied pagoda in the Tohoku region, it was designated as a national treasure in 1966. It is said to have been founded by Taira no Masakado. The current pagoda is said to have been rebuilt about 600 years ago by Masauji Daihoji, a bettor of Mt. Haguro.
Height about 29.0m. The roof is a 3-ken, 5-layer unpainted pagoda with persimmon thatch. Due to the separation of Shintoism and Buddhism in the Meiji period, Mt. Haguro became Dewa Shrine and the temples and shrines were demolished, but the Buddhist-style five-storied pagoda remains to this day. The kit has been modeled at a scale of 1/75 based on local coverage and drawings provided by Dewa Sanzan Shrine. Each part is precisely reproduced by laser processing and designed to be easy to assemble. *Paints, tools, and adhesives are not included in the kit.
