Been having a clear out and found this at the back of a cupboard. My husband used to wear it when he did Amateur Dramatics and they were doing a period play. I've guessed that it dates to the 1950s and it is in good condition overall, with no real signs of wear in terms of the quality of the fabric, but there are some small brown marks in a couple of places and on the collar where it fastens (see photos), plus given that it's white there is some yellowing in places. It's St Michael brand, am pretty sure it's cotton, but I can't see a collar size, but there are 2 white collars (both 15 and a half) and one blue (14 and a half). It has the classic fold back cuffs with button holes for cufflinks. It only opens part way down the front and has a double layer front piece – I think this means it comes from an era when men wore waistcoats, so very little of the front and back of the shirt was visible, and only the bit 'on show' on the upper chest was expected to look pristine. From the shoulder to the bottom of the front edge it measures around 30 inches, and approx 47 inches around the chest.
