503 of the 572 cards in the 1959 Topps baseball set are present including Duke Snider, Stan Musial, Yogi Berra, Billy Martin, George (Sparky) Anderson RC, Orlando Cepeda, Rocco Colavito, Whitey Ford, Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Ed Mathews, Roberto Clemente, Ernie Banks AS, Hank Aaron AS and Warren Spahn AS.
CONDITION:
The majority of the cards are low grade due to varying degrees of creasing/corner wear. This includes all of the major stars (#350 Banks is trimmed). A small amount some show writing on either side "including" #149 Bunning (back), #180 Berra, #251 Boyer and #270 Hodges. Some show back damage but part or most of the text is still readable "including" # 1 Frick, 80 Minoso, 147 Cubs Clubbers, 206 Furillo (bottom left, text/artwork mostly clean), 241, 273, 329 Detroit Tigers (checklist is unmarked), 360 Kaline, 463 Kaline BT. A minor amount have a bit of paper loss "including" #145 (front) and #235 (back).
On the positive side, a portion are nicer (VG, VG/EX with some EX). While most of these are commons including a fair amount from #401 to #499, some minor stars are also part of this mix including #70 Kuenn, #100 Cerv (very light crease but in plastic sheets looks decent), #119 Callison RC, #184 Haddix, #190 Virdon, #212 Fence Busters Aaron/Mathews shows surface wear, a small crease across bottom left and the corners are soft but some might still call it VG), #268 Francona, #308 Sieburn, #310 Luis Aparicio (off center side to side, some surface wear at upper right but the image is clear with EX corners), #326 Throneberry, #335 Temple, #336 Loes, #355 Piersall, #377 Antonelli, #383 Larsen/Stengell, #389 Nuxhall, #391 Pappas, #404 Sauer, #419 Minnesota Twins (unmarked), #424 Aspromonte, #425 Del Crandall, #429 Bobby Thomson, #430 Whitey Ford (miscut at right side but card retains a clean image with EX+ corners), #448 Pinson (miscut, VG corners), #455 Doby, #462 Colavito BT (one corner ding but 3 corners are VG/EX), #495 Johnny Podres, #502 Alvin Dark.
The following have nicer eye appeal than off-grade cards but are a bit too soft to be called VG (though some others might label them as such: #300 Richie Ashburn, #338 George (Sparky) Anderson RC (some surface wear on back but all text is readable), #352 Robin Roberts (some surface wear on front along top border and on back but the image is clear and corners are VG), #395 Elston Howard, #409 Gus Zernial, #417 Virgil Trucks, #420 Rocco Colavito, #441 Roseboro, #476 Cleveland Indians (unmarked), #480 Red Schoendienst.
