Indian inkThe three colors black, sepia and bister that we offer under the Indian ink name have a long tradition. They are pigmented inks that can be diluted with distilled water and dried to be waterproof and erasable. They are therefore ideally suited for tinting surfaces, washing with a brush and for creating lines. Effective light-dark effects can be achieved.
The ink flows excellently from the various drawing implements.
In your area of application, it is not only suitable for fine calligraphic work and pen and ink drawings, but also for blasting techniques and painterly drawings.
The chemical difference to the drawing ink, type 29 700, lies fundamentally in the binding agent. In the case of the Indian ink, this consists of a shellac solution, in the case of the drawing ink, it consists of a pure acrylate. The Sepia Indian inks, adapted to the organic sepia tone of the squid secretion, and the Bister inks are designed as transparent inks. They are largely lightfast.
In order to achieve deep black, opaque spreads, black ink is particularly recommended. A special carbon black is used here.
The cleaning ink should be shaken before use. A quick shake is enough for sepia and bistre. The black Indian ink should be stirred after it has been standing for a long time in order to avoid foaming.
The drawing background (the paper) does not require any special preparation before applying the ink.
The tones of gold and silver included in the series of Indian ink are liquid bronze and bronze respectively. Water-based Iriodin® colors for decoration and calligraphy.
For optical and technical reasons, a bronze pigment (copper alloy) is used for the gold color and a coated mica pigment for silver. The colors are ready to use and can be diluted with water. They can be applied to paper, cardboard and wood with a brush, pen, drawing pen and with an airbrush (nozzle Ø: 0.5-0.8 mm). Strongly absorbent substrates should be primed with a primer commonly used in painting - e.g. E.g. a dispersion-based gesso – to be primed. Other substrates such as fabric, metal or glass should be tested for adhesion and wetting before painting.
Both shades are shiny and exceptionally brilliant and after sufficient time for drying, they become waterproof. They can be mixed together and colored with Rohrer & Klingner drawing ink. This creates metallic effects and - depending on the type of application - other interesting colour/metal effects. For example, by adding a little blue to the gold tone, beautiful antique effects can be achieved by dabbing, smudging or letting it flow. Colored backgrounds also influence the visual appearance of the two tones. A dark red is known to enhance the gold tone; green and blue are preferred for underlaying silver.Contains: metal pigment for gold and shellac, mica pigment (Iriodin®) for silver, acrylic resin, water.
WRITING INK :Rohrer & Klingner is continuing a long tradition of ink with its range of fountain pen and writing ink, which consists of 18 shades. In addition to the classic fashion tones, new colors (including 2 iron gall inks) are available that have been specially developed with calligraphy in mind. The inks are designed on a traditional basis with partly modern raw materials.

High-quality, brilliant dyes, specially treated water and minimally dosed additives lead to balanced capillarity of the inks and correspondingly good writing behavior on different marking materials. Suitable for fountain pens, steel nibs, ink tubes and other utensils used in calligraphy. Piston fillers and converters (separate tank with piston train) are very popular for ecological and economic reasons.

The converter is a separate tank with a piston pull for pickup. The writing stands well on most inscription materials (mainly paper) and the ink is quickly absorbed by the inscription material according to its capillarity. Pleasant-looking, high-quality dyes are processed in the individual shades, which develop a balanced color intensity in addition to high brilliance in the ink. The color of the iron gall ink deepens after writing through air oxidation and the writing becomes permanent, formerly known as permanent.
