This is the 1/72 scale Sword kit P-40K Short tail, BUILT in the markings of the USAAF 11th Fighter Squadron with John Chennault, the son of famed Flying Tiger leader Claire Chennault.
The homage of the tiger head was carried briefly in Alaska in WW II. The Aleutian Tigers flew a mix of P-40E's and -K's with a mix of camouflage- US Olive drab, or a segmented scheme of green and brown diverted from British orders. I used Model Master Olive Drab, Sand Beige, and Neutral Grey, airbrushed finish.
Decals from Aeromaster were quite old, inflexible, and brittle.
I masked the tiger head outline, and sprayed Mr. Color yellow. The decals are attached with a cautious dab of Tamiya thin cement, and touch-ups with a fine-tipped marker. Serials are speculative, based on two photos which may not be of the same plane. Number decals from an old Tally Ho sheet

Downsizing in retirement, thinning my collection due to lack of display space.

Items will be carefully packaged with padding, but fragile parts eg. antennae, propellers, landing gear, etc, may require repairs by the buyer. Or return for a refund.
