This painting is painted in egg tempera on a Baltic birch panel. I prepare the birch panels with natural adhesives and Italian Marble dust; each panel takes a week to prepare. For the paint I hand-grind the finest quality pigments, use local free range eggs, and follow the techniques of the great Renaissance masters. They valued egg tempera for its many benefits including its vibrance, luminosity, and permanence. My paintings won’t fade, yellow, or discolor — even over many years — and are wholly natural and non-toxic.
