Barn Quilt Wall Plaque 15” X 15” X 1.5 inches.

This beautiful barn quilt wall plaque is handmade and hand painted by me in my home workshop. It is not mass produced or screen painted. I paint each plaque one at a time. I mix may own colors and draw my own designs which makes each plague sign one of a kind. I take great pride in each one I create. I do not paint on plywood but instead paint the designs on 1/8th inch hardboard to give each design a smoother more precise look.

I build the frame in my wood shop, out of pine, similar to a shadow box. This design makes the art work stands out against the wall. I attach picture wire for hanging which allows the frame to fit flat against the wall. I give the frame two coats of premium primer to insure no moisture gets to the wood.

I paint three coats of each color by hand one color at a time allowing each coat to dry at least 12 hours before applying another coat. Finally I coat the entire frame and painting with two coats of polyurethane so it is suitable to use outdoors.

It takes me about five to seven days to complete a plaque depending on how complex the design. It’s a very time consuming process but the results are always so gratifying.
